EXTRA! EXTRA!!

In which the gents go hard on the cover of the extra crisp Sunday Times Magazine (South Africa) and intrepid SA journo Diane Coetzer braves being mistaken for "another JKS groupie" and relates perhaps the most clear-eyed account of the band to date by weaving a narrative of the band's hard grind til now and a little perspective on what the future might hold now that it's big things poppin with on international label with Bon Iver and Antony & the Johnsons on the roster. Money quote: "A typical Blk Jks fan anywhere in the world is easy to spot. 'For the most part, it’s people who are moving forward and who are keen to look at the possibilities culture offers,' Mcata confides."

Or, as Coetzer writes: "...something about who turns up at a Blk Jks gig: lots of women of all colours and a reliable number of new South African hipsters who are looking for a soundtrack to an identity..."

LOL @ Mpumi and Molefi fighting the age-old "MIA vs Santogold" debate.

SMH @ the Times for calling BLK JKS "boys" on the cover.

Read the whole thing, it's good.
